Sullivan Returns to House Floor to Call for Real Energy Solutions
Washington,
Aug 15, 2008 -
Today, Congressman John Sullivan returned to Washington to join the Republican led energy protest on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. Sullivan continued his call for a comprehensive “all of the above” solution to our nation’s growing energy needs and urged Speaker Pelosi to allow a vote on legislation to increase the supply of American-made energy.
“Given our nation’s current energy needs and long-term goal of energy security, it is imperative that that we pass a comprehensive “all of the above” solution to increase the supply of American-made energy” Sullivan said. “It has been eleven days since Speaker Pelosi adjourned the House without allowing Congress to address the rising energy costs that American families and businesses are facing. I signed numerous discharge petitions to bring domestic energy production bills to the House floor for a vote and cosponsored over fifteen bills that would increase the supply of American-made energy. These bills and petitions address every aspect of a comprehensive plan that the American people are demanding.”
Prior to returning to Washington, Congressman Sullivan spent two weeks in Oklahoma where he heard from an overwhelming number of constituents who are frustrated by the Democrat led Congress’s refusal to address our nation’s energy crisis.
“Residents of the First District are frustrated that Congress failed to pass a comprehensive energy plan” Sullivan said. “My constituents made it clear that they want me to be in Washington, on the House floor, and I am here to take their message directly to Speaker Pelosi: Oklahomans want an open debate and vote on our nation’s energy future.”
